EASILY THE most bizarre offering at Edinburgh this year was Ursula Martinez presents a Family Outing - a DIY therapy-session-cum-chat show in which the stars are the nonchalant performance artist's elderly parents. As these two brave it out on the sofa, bantering away in a manner that hedges between the improvisatory and the scripted, Martinez's postmodern conceit becomes a powerful critique of family values.

There are just a few days left to catch the Right Size's exuberant take on Mr Puntila and His Man Matti (right). Brecht's anti-capitalist comedy about an unpredictable drunken landowner and his disgruntled chauffeur looks even more pertinent in the light of current currency upheavals.
