Elenya (PG; Renoir). A lonely girl, an outsider in the Welsh village where she lives during the war, befriends and hides a German airman. Pascale Delafouge Jones and Klaus Behrendt play the leads in writer-director Steven Gough's crudely constructed first feature, which relies heavily on picturesque views and period atmosphere.

Traces of Red (15; MGM, Oxford St, Panton St). Palm Beach cop James Belushi, looking as though he were being directed with a cattle prod, is involved in one of those whodunnits that keep you guessing up to the moment when they name the guilty names: director, writer, best boy and so on.
