THE NATIONAL THEATRE OF BRENT'S (below) wonderfully dunderheaded telling of the Charles and Diana story, Love Upon the Throne has so successfully tapped what's left of our interest in the mismatch of the century that it is transferring to the West End. Visit Patrick Barlow and John Ramm's palace of pun while admission is still at fringe prices.

Bush Theatre, London W12 (0181-743 3388) 8pm

The Glasgow Citizens' autumn season opens with the first night of Edgar Allen Poe's gothic tale, The Fall of the House of Usher. It's the story of the strange life and even weirder death of Roderick Usher and his twin sister, Madeline, adapted and directed by Jon Pope. Tonight's preview is free. Citizens' Theatre, Glasgow (0141-429 5561) 7.30pm
