Richard Bean's first full-length play, Toast, owes its inspiration to the Royal Court's production of David Storey's huge workplace play The Changing Room. Bean's comedy is set in a Hull bakery. As both a Hull University graduate and an inveterate bakery visitor, I shall be taking a keen interest. Other less well-connected folk should book early as it is directed by Richard Wilson (right), whose recent meticulous Royal Court production of Christopher Shinn's state-of-America play, Four, was one of the highlights of 1998.
Royal Court Upstairs, London WC2 (0171-565 5000) from Fri 12 Feb
