The Sound of Music and Cabaret are certainly not the only pieces of popular fiction to be built around the Nazis, yet the rise of fascism and its implications for "ordinary" men and women are subjects that dramatists have been understandably wary of. CP Taylor's shimmering, compelling study of the seductions and dangers of the liberal position is at the Donmar from 18 March. But first comes Speer, Esther Vilar's biographical study, directed by and starring the legendary Klaus Maria Brandauer (right).
