Lin-Manuel Miranda announces new Broadway show

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the acclaimed musical Hamilton, is returning to Broadway with a new freestyle rap show.

Miranda announced the upcoming show on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday evening.

“My first time performing in New York was with a freestyle hip-hop group called Freestyle Love Supreme,” he said.

“We are coming to Broadway this fall at the Booth Theatre.”

Freestyle Love Supreme, as the show is called, will open on 2 October, according to Playbill.

Miranda himself will make surprise appearances during the run, which is currently slated to last for 16 weeks.

The Booth Theatre is located just a block away from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, where Miranda’s Hamilton is still playing.

Miranda is teaming up with Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of Hamilton, as well as Freestyle Love Supreme founding member Anthony Veneziale, for the new show.
