By far the best reason for seeing Janet Suzman's production is the superlative Kathryn Pogson. Her movingly shaded performance as Stanislawa Przybyszewska - who wrote a highly influential 600-page dramatisation of the French Revolution - elevates some pretty stodgy material in Pam Gems's bio-drama. The play also suffers from some clunky dialogue. It seems hard that, after leading such an arduously idealistic life, Przybyszewska should be remembered, not as an independent creative intellect, but as a Freudian case study.
