That's Life has been pulled up by the Broadcasting Standards Council for insensitive depiction of disability. In a recent series, the programme pointed up the difficulty of getting to a telephone box situated in the middle of a roundabout. To make the point, a presenter with dark glasses and a white stick crossed the road, missed the kiosk and fell over a wall. The BBC defended itself by referring to its slapstick style and humorous exaggeration. The BSC failed to see the funny side.
