Game of Thrones season 8: Euron Greyjoy actor teases possible dragon twist in episode 5
The next outing could have one hell of a surprise in store for viewers
One of the lead stars of Game of Thrones has revealed there could be a dragon surprise in store for viewers of the penultimate episode.
Pilou Asbaek, who plays Euron Greyjoy, returned in the latest outing after a two-week absence – and he all but confirmed his death in one of the final two instalments by taking down Daenerys’ beloved dragon, Rhaegal, in a scene many viewers felt was slightly "outrageous."
The trailer for the next episode sees the battle for the Iron Throne intensify as Jon Snow arrives in King’s Landing, but it seems like Dany has a surprise in store for Euron and his army of mercenaries.
Now, on Instagram, Asbaek has teased a big twist that could see the arrival of another dragon, despite Drogon being Daenerys’ last surviving child.
“Gone with the wind….!!!? Maybe…. can’t wait for episode 5….there will be light! And death…. and coffee cups… Oreos…?…you might see a dragon…or two…or none…”
Whatever happens, it certainly seems like Asbaek may struggle to make it to the series finale, which will be broadcast on HBO and Sky Atlantic on 19 May.
The latest episode featured a scene involving Brienne of Tarth that has prompted fans to accuse the episode’s writers – showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss – of “hitting new lows” while others criticised the decision to kill of Missandei for the repercussions it'll have for the character of Daenerys.
The show will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
