Game of Thrones season 8: Is Jon Snow Azor Ahai? New theory predicts he'll kill Daenerys Targaryen

The answer looks set to be revealed ine the final two episodes

With just two episodes to go until the end of Game of Thrones, fans are hoping to find out the identity of Azor Ahai.

Over the past few seasons, every character – from Jaime Lannister to Arya Stark – has been touted as potentially being the prophesised “Prince That Was Promised”.

But, a convincing theory suggests that the identity of Azor Ahai will be somebody who Melisandre predicted many seasons ago: Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

The main clues come as part of the fresh analysis of that vision Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) had in season two. To sum up, fans think these scenes – which we’ve dissected here – predicted her downfall at the hands of her Targaryen nephew Snow, whom she didn’t even know existed at the time.

Going by last week’s events, the only person who seems likely to be responsible for making this come true is Daenerys herself. If she takes the final word of her close aide Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) literally, she’s probably going to send Drogon (or herself?) on a fire-breathing rampage through the city, killing many innocent civilians in the process - and this would no doubt snap Jon into action; he’d want to put a stop to her murderous ways.

So, why would this make him Azor Ahai? For those who don’t know, the prophecy derives from a battle between the White Walkers and the Children of the Forest that took place before the show began. Someone called Azor Ahai led that army while wielding a flaming sword called Lightbringer, which got its power after he stabbed it through the heart of his wife, Nissa Nissa.

With Daenerys potentially set to go on a killing spree around King’s Landing, maybe Jon will be forced to kill the woman he loves?
