In a teaser played out during the Six Nations coverage on BBC One, the broadcaster announced that season six of the police corruption drama will air on Sunday 21 March at 9pm.

Creator Mercurio previously said his scripts for the upcoming series are “ludicrously implausible”.

Writing on Twitter, Mercurio said he was “humbly grateful to the whole cast” of Line of Duty “for making great drama out of the ludicrously implausible scripts in today’s readthrough for series six”.
