Alex Beresford returns to Good Morning Britain for the first time since Piers Morgan exit
Presenter confronted Morgan on 9 March over his comments about Meghan Markle
Presenter Alex Beresford has returned to Good Morning Britain, ten days after the incident in which Piers Morgan stormed off-air.
Beresford was praised for his conduct on the programme, criticising Morgan for his remarks about Meghan Markle.
Morgan’s comments, which included the suggestion that he thought the Duchess of Cambridge was lying about experiencing suicidal thoughts during her time as a senior royal, prompted a record number of complaints to broadcast watchdog Ofcom (more than 57,000).
On 9 March, the morning after Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in the UK, Beresford condemned Morgan for “trashing” Markle, and said the segments in which Morgan discussed the Duchess were “incredibly hard to watch”.
Morgan quit the series just hours after walking off during Beresford’s speech.
Now Beresford, who regularly presents the weather forecast on Good Morning Britain, has returned to the series.
