Seeing as it's American Idol's final season, we were probably due a horrendously awkward audition. Thanks to this husband and wife duo, we got it.

Jordan and Alex Sasser decided to audition together with their baby daughter Westlund in tow.

In the VT beforehand, the two make out that they'd be completely fine with any outcome, amping up their supportive natures.

The facade slightly slips, however, when Alex tells cameras: "I'm the better singer... Don't tell him I said that because he really thinks he is."

Which made it all the more awkward when she got rejected while her husband made it through.

What makes matters worse is how Alex gets rejected by judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban, but is then forced to retain a smile on the sideline as they heap praise upon her husband's cover of Celine Dion.

Upon leaving the audition room, Jordan lays it out for their assembled friends and family "I'm going; she's not" while the two went on to share a fraught moment away from everybody.

"I've never been good enough and I watch you follow your dreams. It's just heartbreaking."

"I don't want you to feel like this is the end of the road and that you don't have another chance," he responds.

"I'm proud of you, I love you."

We're betting he makes the live shows.
