Arrested Development season 5 update: Show creator Mitch Hurwitz says filming could start 'early 2017'
'It’s the thing I’m really desperate to do'

Despite appearing at a Television Critics Association press tour panel discussing Netflix’s Bojack Horseman, F is for Family and Lady Dynamite, the first question Mitch Hurwitz answered was not about either three of the shows.
Instead of focusing attention on Lardy Dynamite - which he co-created - Hurwitz was immediately asked for a status update on another show he created, Arrested Development.
Luckily, he was happy to update eager attendees on season five’s progress, saying, according to Variety: “If it does happen, it looks like the shooting will start at the beginning of 2017.”
While details were kept to a minimum, he did say: “It’s the thing I’m really desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of the stories broke and we’re ready to go.”
Arrested Development was previously cancelled by Fox in 2006, only being picked up once more by Netflix in 2013, becoming one of the streaming service’s first original series.
Netflix content officer Ted Sarandos previously said of renewing the show it would be difficult due to the famous cast being very busy and it still being owned by Fox.
Meanwhile, Hurwitz also spoke about Lady Dynamite at the panel, revealing that Netflix had already renewed it for a second series.
