Netflix has finally announced when it will add the latest season of hit cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine to its UK catalogue.

For months, the streaming service has been inundated with queries from fans about the sitcom’s future availability.

Season seven of Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired in the US from February to April 2020, on NBC, having changed networks one season earlier after being cancelled by Fox.

Netflix announced the news on Twitter, writing: “The best day of the year is when we can *actually* give you an answer when you ask where the next season of B99 is. Today is that day.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine S7 comes to Netflix UK/IE on 26 March.”

The 13-episode season sees Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero and Joe Lo Truglio return as a group of dysfunctional yet affable police officers in a New York precinct.

Fans reacted to the news of the season’s impending arrival with delight, expressing their joy on social media.

“Today is a good day,” wrote one commenter.

“Just as I slip back into my Brooklyn 99 phase Netflix answers my prayers,” wrote someone else.

“Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool,” wrote another person, referencing a catchphrase often uttered by the series’ lead, Jake Peralta (Samberg).

Shortly after posting the news, Netflix added that it had already received mulitple inquiries about the release date of season eight.

“Nice to see that, as tradition dictates, there are people asking for S8 already,” wrote the official Netflix account.

Seasons one to six of Brooklyn Nine-Nine can be streamed on Netflix now.
