Fans of The Great British Bake Off and The Great British Sewing Bee may be excited to hear that the hit show’s creators are working on a new contest, tentatively called Britain’s Best Potter.

Love Productions are on the hunt for talented artists who “live and breathe pottery” for the upcoming BBC Two programme, set to air in spring next year.

“We’re scouring the country for experienced amateurs to early career potters who want to share their passion with the nation,” an ad for applications reads.

“Your entire repertoire of skills will be put to the test so if you think you’ve got what it takes we would love to hear from you!”

Those interested in joining the series should be "lively characters comfortable being filmed" and express interest by midnight on Sunday 4 January.

You can call Love Productions on 020 7067 4329, email pottery@loveproductions.co.uk or write to Pottery Team, Love Productions, 43 Eagle Street, London, WC1R 4AT.

For those who prefer baking to pottery, applications for the sixth series of The Great British Bake Off are also being accepted ahead of filming in spring 2015 – deadline 11 January.

This year’s Bake Off finale attracted an average of 12.3 million viewers to become the most-watched non-sporting TV event of 2014.

Presented by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, the Bake Off is set to debut stateside as the Great British Baking Show at the end of this month on US network PBS.
