Buddy Valastro: Cake Boss star fears he’ll never bake again after ‘terrible’ bowling injury
Baker’s hand was stabbed in freak accident
Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro has suffered a severe hand injury that could prevent him from baking again.
Valastro, who has appeared on the US show since 2009, expressed his concern about the future of his career after injuring himself in September.
The baker, 43, was stabbed with a metal rod while bowling, after attempting to retrieve a pin from an automatic pinsetter.
He told Entertainment Tonight that he has nerve damage and is experiencing a loss of feeling in his fingers, which is causing him concern.
“[My hand has] 10 or 15 per cent of the strength that I used to have," he said, adding: “It’s just really gonna be a matter of time to see exactly what comes back with the nerve too.”
Valastro called the situation “unforeseen”, stating: "[I have] a lot of nerve damage, so my fingers are kinda numb in the middle, you know? They’ll always feel numb and stiff. We’ll see what happens.”
Cake Boss follows Valastro’s family business, a bakery based in Hoboken, New Jersey.
He said he is “taking it day by day and cake by cake”.
