California wildfires: Pink's husband says looters will be 'shot on sight' after Malibu blaze

'Well, if you are a looter, think twice if you are heading back into Malibu'

Pink's husband, Casey Hart, posted a threatening message to his Instagram page, directed to any potential looters.

As the Woolsey Fire continues to ravage across Southern California, with more than 250,000 residents forced to evacuate their homes, Hart posted an image to Instagram depicting about a dozen armed men holding a sign reading: "looters will be shot on site [sic]".

"It’s unfortunate that some people take advantage of others in a crisis," Hart wrote. "While the Malibu fires have been burning, some locals have been fighting off and defending their property against the fires. There have been sightings of looters breaking in to homes. Well, if you are a looter, think twice if you are heading back into Malibu."

The image has proved divisive, with some commenters denouncing the inherent violence of the message. One user, referencing last week's mass shooting at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, in which 12 people were killed, wrote: "It's undoubtedly wrong for anyone to break into anyone's homes especially at a time like this but there really has to be another approach to this. California just lost 12 people to senselessness and countless bullets."

"Could've been you, your kids or one of your friends. At some point we are going to have to evolve."

Pink and Hart evacuated their Malibu beachside property as the fire spread. The singer tweeted: "Just need to say THANKYOU to all of the firefighters. All of the first responders. All of the helpers. The thing to look for in tragedy is all of the helpers. We’re all so grateful for your bravery and selflessness."

Lady Gaga was also amongst those evacuated. She took time to visit a Red Cross shelter on Sunday, offering a few words of hope to the displaced group at Pacific Palisades High School. “I extend my love to each and every one of you. I know we do not know each other, but I love you,” she said. “This is an emergency, but you are not alone. And we have each other.”
