From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The line-up for 2016’s Celebrity Big Brother, which leaked via the Daily Star, has been confirmed true by The Mirror, and as expected the list contains a host of names very few people have ever heard of.

The majority come from reality TV shows, ranging from The Only Way Is Essex’s Gemma Collins to Strictly Come Dancing professional Kristina Rihanoff.

According to the line-up, Jonathan Cheban (a friend of Kim Kardashians), reality star Tiffany Pollard, Geordie Shore’s Scotty T, Ex On The Beach’s Megan McKenna and former X-Factor finalist Christopher Maloney will be joining the revamped house.

Two Eastenders alumni will also be on the show - John Partridge, famous for playing Christian Clark, and Daniella Westbrook - as well as ex-Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis.

There will also be a host of ‘musicians’, with Summer Holiday singer Darren Day and US producer David Gest joining the competition.

Finishing the 16-person line-up is Nancy Dell’Olio - who shot to fame as ex-England football boss Sven-Goran Eriksson's girlfriend and appeared on Strictly - and Winston McKenzie - the English Democrats' candidate for London mayor.

And last, but not least, David Bowie’s ex-wife Angie Bowie and Jeremy McConnell, a former Mr Ireland, will also enter the house.

The show's producers have promised "unwelcome surprises" for the contestants, revealing "the Big Brother garden has been transformed into a Whitechapel style foggy street scene with a Victorian pub snug".

Ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Ola Jordan has said she will not be appearing on the show, Tweeting: "Lots of people have been saying I'm going into the @bbuk house. I can assure you I am NOT. However, I Will be watching."
