A Clueless reboot turning the teen comedy into a mystery series is reportedly in the works.

CBS TV Studios are working on a remake of the beloved 1995 romantic comedy focusing on Dionne, Stacey Dash’s character in the original film, according to Deadline.

The project is set in a Los Angeles high school in 2020 and sees Dionne investigate the mysterious disappearance of her friend Cher (Alicia Silverstone in the original movie). In Cher’s absence, Dionne must also get used to being the most popular student at her school.

Several streaming platforms as well as The CW are reportedly interested in the remake.

Clueless, also starring Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd, became a fan favourite as viewers around the world fell in love with the coming-of-age story of Cher Horowitz, a popular, wealthy teenager in Beverly Hills.

The movie is loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel Emma.

It was later turned into a TV series that aired between 1996 and 1999, with Rachel Blanchard in the role of Cher.

It also became an off-Broadway musical in 2018.
