‘This is just the beginning’: Leah Remini reacts to Danny Masterson rape charges
‘That ‘70s Show’ star charged with raping three women
Leah Remini, an actor and vocal critic of Scientology, has reacted with triumph to news of Danny Masterson’s rape charges.
That ‘70s Show star Masterson, who is a Scientologist, has been charged with raping three women in separate incidents between 2001 and 2003.
“Finally, victims are being heard when it comes to Scientology!” tweeted Remini. “Praise the lord! This is just the beginning Scientology, your days of getting away with it is coming to an end!”
Remini, who has starred in The King of Queens and Kevin Can Wait, is a former Scientologist. Her hit docuseries, Scientology and the Aftermath, featured interviews with two of Masterson’s accusers and explored allegations of sexual assault more widely in the Church.
After the documentary aired, the Church told the New York Post: “Leah Remini has blood on her hands…
“Her show’s lies, distortions and exhortations to hate and bigotry generated assassination threats against the leader of the Scientology religion, physical attacks on Churches, and the murder of a Scientology religious worker whose throat was slashed by a madman egged on by Remini’s horrendous distortions.”
The murder referred to here is of Chih-Hen Yeh, who was stabbed outside Scientology headquarters in Sydney last year.
At the time, police had no indication of a link between the attack and Remini’s series.
