Killing Eve: Elton John responds to episode inspired by his career
‘Are you from Pinner?’ features Villanelle’s Elton-obsessed half-brother Bor’ka
Elton John says he’s “thrilled” to have been the inspiration for a storyline in the latest Killing Eve episode.
The artist reacted on Instagram on Tuesday, praising Jodie Comer’s take on his iconic style.
“#KillingEve is such a groundbreaking series and I was thrilled to be included in this week’s episode,” he wrote.
“I think the glasses suit you @jodiemcomer!”
He attached a still of Comer wearing heart-shaped sunglasses resembling the ones he has sported in the past.
“Are you from Pinner?”, the fifth episode of the show’s third series, aired on 10 May.
It’s titled after Pinner, the town in Middlesex, England, where John was born in 1947.
In the episode, Villanelle returns to her native Russia and encounters her half-brother Bor’ka (Temi Blaev), an Elton John superfan.
Lead writer and executive producer Suzanne Heathcote explained in a behind-the-scenes segment that making Bor’ka passionate about the singer “just felt right”.
Executive producer Gina Mingacci explained: “For Bor’ka, Elton’s music is about freedom. It’s about wanting to have a better life, to get out, to be yourself.”
