This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.

This year's Emmy nominations have been revealed.

The television shows that'll battle for the top prizes in Hollywood were announced by actor Keon Jeong and The Good Place star D'Arcy Carden on Tuesday.

Bodyguard is officially in the running for Outstanding Drama Series, along with Game of Thrones, Killing Eve, Ozark, Pose, Succession and This Is Us. Game of Thrones, which wrapped up in May, landed 32 nominations across all categories. Its stars Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington are also nominated in the Lead Actress/Actor in a Drama Series category.

Fleabag is also in a good position in the Emmys race with a total of 11 nominations. The show is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, while Phoebe Waller-Bridge is up for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The show performed well in the supporting and guest categories, with nominations for Sian Clifford, Olivia Colman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw.

Veep emerged with nine nominations, including one in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category for Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The show is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series.
