Even Benedict Cumberbatch couldn't resist doing a terrible Chinese car commercial

The sign that you've made it as a Hollywood actor has nothing to do with Oscars or Screen Actors' Guild awards, it's whether or not you're invited to advertise a car in Asia for an exorbitant sum of money.

Hot off the heels of Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese and Brad Pitt's weird multi-million dollar luxury casino advert, Cumberbatch shilled for MG this week, definitely trading off his Sherlock character a little bit.

The advert apparently sees him solving The Mystery of the Girl in the Denim Jacket, driving around London having a nice and fun time in a bright orange 4x4.

After literally jumping over Tower Bridge, CumberSherlock eventually tracks down the mysterious lady, commenting of his journey "I could do this all day" - because driving down the city's congested streets is more fun that finding the love of your life, obviously!

In fairness it's a lot better than previous celebrity international adverts - I'm particularly thinking of Nicolas Cage doing PACHINKOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
