Family Guy pays tribute to Carrie Fisher, who voiced the character Angela on the show

Family Guy has paid tribute to Carrie Fisher, who voiced the character Angela on the series.

The episode sees Peter give a eulogy for Angela, starting off the speech by making jokes about the character with references to Friends and Cheers.

However, as the character continues, it becomes clear who the tribute is for: "That was Angela, fearless, spontaneous and honest. About herself just as much as she was about the world around her.

"She had grace, courage and an unmatched zest for life.

"She may be gone, but her voice will live on in DVD and Hulu Plus and tiny droid-projected messages. I may have lost a boss, but heaven has gained a princess."

Fisher died on the 27 December 2016 following a flight from the UK to Los Angeles. Her daughter, Bille Lourd, later confirmed the death in a statement, while a coroner later found drugs and opioids in her bloodstream.

Family Guy airs Sundays in the US. A UK release has yet to be determined.
