After nearly a decade of Live Lounges, Pet Sounds and Asking Experts, Fearne Cotton couldn’t quite hold back the tears as she presented her last Radio Show for the BBC.

Cotton announced earlier this year that she was stepping down after revealing her and husband Jesse Wood would be pursuing "family and new adventures" as they are expecting a second child.

Celebrities from around the world sent special leaving messages to the 33 year old, with fans and musicians alike using the hashtag #FarewellFearne on Twitter.

While many were upset to hear that the DJ was leaving, some were less so...

Throughout the three hour show she received numerous recorded messages including one particularly heartfelt phone call from Foo Fighter's frontman Dave Grohl: "It's one thing to be a wonderful voice on the radio, someone that has that kind of timing and sophistication and humour and knowledge - but then also to be the most beautiful woman in the world?"

He added: "Usually when you step into a radio studio, you're faced with some people that look like they should be working on the radio. In her case, she deserves to be out of the studio a little bit more."

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also wrote a special song titled "Gone But Not F Cotton", singing: "I was very, very sad to hear my favourite show would disappear. Have to tell her thanks for the records she played, thanks for introducing us to Lana Del Rey."

Irish rockers Kodaline played a different version of their song The One, changing the lyrics to: "The BBC will never be the same, we're going to miss you when you're gone. We hope the goldfish that we gave you is still alive and swimming on."

Cotton hand-picked the playlist throughout, playing favourites including Lana Del Rey's "Video Games" and Adele's "Hometown Glory".

Before landing her own show, Cotton was the first female presenter of the Sunday Radio 1 Chart Show, which she co-hosted for two years with Reggie Yates.

She isn't the first Radio 1 DJ to leave this year as Zane Lowe was poached by Apple to join their team. Both presenters leaving comes at a bad time for the station as listening figures drop to a twelve year low.
