Game of Thrones: Hodor actor reveals the one good thing about his character's twist
Well, that's a weight off his shoulders
** Spoilers for Game of Thrones season 6 episode 5 **
For anyone watching “The Door” on Sunday/Monday night, the following day was likely spent mourning the one innocent character in the entire series: Hodor.
The lovable half-giant had never wronged anyone, he merely just wanted to help Bran, and inevitably ended up dying to a horde of White Walkers.
It was emotional, with the actor, Kristian Nairn, saying he cried while watching the final cut (as we all did). However, there is a silver-lining to his untimely death, as Nairn observes in an interview with HitFlix.
When asked whether it was nice that he didn’t have to carry Bran this season, the actor/DJ said: “YES! That's a very short answer to that, in capital letters. He is massively big now. It's not only the physical thing. It looks ridiculous, too. He's about 6' tall, and looks like he sings for Oasis. He's not that little Bran of Winterfell anymore. He's an NBA player, man.”
Hodor's best quotes
Show all 8At least something good came out of Hodor’s death. Oh, and Bran survived, just so he can get the rest of his companions killed (probably).
Elsewhere in the interview, Nairn describes a wonderful episode at a gig in France where he was DJing at a festival.
“Basically, every time before I go on stage, you will hear the chants of ‘Hodor!’ Which I love, but there's only one time I felt a bit embarrassed,” he told the website.
“I did a music festival in France. I'm not going to name names, but there were bigger bands and DJs on before me, and throughout their set, all I could hear them chanting was ‘Hodor!’ And I was, like, ‘Oh, please stop! It's so disrespectful to the other acts!’ In a way, obviously, I loved it, but it was kind of embarrassing at the same time. They were really not happy.”
Meanwhile, we’ve spent some time analysing exactly what this time travelling/paradox/fiasco could mean for Bran and the future of Game of Thrones.
