Game of Thrones parody rap 'Lannista's Paradise' sees Tyrion rhyme about his woes

The spoof rap is a treat for fan's of the flagship HBO series and celebrates one of the most popular character's on the show

With less than a week to go until Game of Thrones season four hits our screens, the anticipation is reaching fever pitch. So much so, that some fans have created their own tributes to the medieval fantasy show.

The Sons of Mim have 'released' a hilarious parody rap called "Lannista's Paradise", featuring Tyrion Lannister rhyming over Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise".

In the Shame of Tones production that would make Bael the Bard proud, everyone's favourite Game of Thrones character rhapsodises about his life in Westeros' richest family.

The spoof cover includes such cracking lines as "I'm an educated Imp with money on my mind/Got a shield in my hand and an axe in my other hand/A half-pint Lannister/A whoop-ass canister".

The rap was uploaded to YouTube on 27 March and has racked up over 46,000 views to date.

The song is part of The Sons of Mim's forthcoming parody album Shame of Tones, which features other tracks such as "Arya Gonna Make Them Pay" and "Total Eclipse of House Stark".

"Lannista's Paradise" follows a long line of spoof raps that have covered Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise". The song was first released in 1995 as part of The Dangerous Minds soundtrack and since then has been lampooned countless times, most notably by "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Amish Paradise".

Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling novel series A Song of Ice and Fire and tells of the power struggle between several feuding families to win the Iron Throne of Westeros.

The series has gained mainstream appeal with the third season becoming the fastest selling box-set in a decade. Cumulative UK DVD and Blu-Ray sales reached almost 190,000 copies in its first week of release back in February.

Season four of the popular series will be aired in the UK at 2am on Sunday 7 April in a transatlantic simulcast.
