Peter Dinklage explains what was going through Tyrion's mind during Jon and Daenerys sex scene

One of the most curious and unexplained moments in the Game of Thrones season 7 finale was Tyrion Lannister's pause in the hallway, the Hand to the Queen recognising what was going on in Daenerys' room and looking a little concerned about it.

It's highly unlikely Tyrion knows that the pair are related, and he respects the hell out of Jon, so why the long face?

Putting the fairly bonkers theories about a love triangle aside for now, it seems Tyrion simply knows what love can make people do. Things like, say, kill one's father with a crossbow.

"It's dangerous for everybody involved," Tyrion actor Peter Dinklage said in a behind-the-scenes video on the union of Ice and Fire. "I'm sure [the sex] is good for both of them in the moment, but you don't even get the relief of how beautiful it could be or should be.

"No, it's not good - it should be, but it's not. It's Game of Thrones, there's a long history of romance not ending well in this show."

Kit Harington shared Dinklage's assessment of the situation, even before the pair know they are aunt and nephew.

"I think they both know it's wrong," he said, "they both know it's going to cause problems.

"But it's that thing - when you suddenly feel that deeply about someone and you go through those events together, it's like a runaway train you can't stop it happening."

As for how Jon and Dany will respond to Bran and Sam's news of their relation, Emilia Clarke had some thoughts.

"The reality of what they are to each other?" she mused, "I think *gags* might be the reaction."
