Walking the Oscars red carpet can be an exciting moment, we're sure, but it proved a bit too much for Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner who ended up accidentally revealing a spoiler for the HBO series' upcoming sixth season.

Game of Thrones season 6: Everything we know so far

Speaking to E!'s Giuliana Rancic, the 20-year-old, who plays the long-suffering Sansa Stark, revealed that her character will be making it through this season alive.

Discussing her nerves when she reads the show's scripts, she said: "Flicking through, I'm like 'death, death, death... Okay, I'm good for this season.'"

In a television series affiliated with shock deaths, this news is sure to eliminate a fair bit of tension in her upcoming season six scenes.

Turner did, however, tease an exciting role for her character in the ten approaching episodes.

"This season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It’s probably her best season yet.

"It’s her really coming into her own. [This season], she really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it."

A recent promo suggested that death is an inevitability for some of our favourite characters this season - and with Stark now set to be hunted by her deranged husband Ramsay Bolton, it looked like the Winterfell child's time in Westeros may soon be coming to an end.

But no: unless Turner is toying with fans, Stark will be appearing in season seven.

Turner is making her film debut in X-Men: Apocalypse starring as a young version of Jean Grey , the character originally played by Famke Janssen; it will be released on 19 May.

Game of Thrones season six begins on 24 April.
