The stars of Gavin & Stacey have finally reunited as the forthcoming Christmas special begins filming.

James Corden returned to the UK shortly after it was announced he was to bring the hit sitcom back alongside writing partner and co-star Ruth Jones for a festive edition.

Joanna Page, Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman were all seen back in Barry Island at the family home of Gwen (Melanie Walters).

Despite rumours of a long-running rift, Corden was seen laughing with Mathew Horne, who plays the titular Gavin, with Rob Brydon also present.

Gavin & Stacey first aired on BBC Three in 2007 and ended with its third series on New Year’s Day in 2010.

Speaking about the special on Loose Women earlier this week, Lamb – who plays Gavin’s father, Mick – said: “I was just at the point where I was going to have a tattoo saying: ‘I don’t know, don’t ask me’ – and then I get a phone call from James Corden and then I have to carry it around for two months until it all finally came through and then I got to read a script.”

He added: “They’ve not tried to turn it into a great big sort of circus or something, they’ve rolled it on and there you are ten years down the line. Everything you want is going to be there. Everything.”

You can find a recap of what was occurin’ the last time you saw the characters here.

Gavin & Stacey returns on Christmas Day 2019.
