The Only Way is Essex star Gemma Collins has thanked Piers Morgan for being “kind and understanding” to her on his show Life Stories.

In the episode, which aired on ITV last night (11 February), Collins cried as she recalled contemplating suicide after her break-up with Towie co-star James ‘Arg’ Argent, who struggled with drug addiction during their relationship.

Following the programme, she wrote on Instagram: “Thank you @piersmorgan for being so kind and understanding behind the GC facade there is just a girl from Romford with BIG DREAMS.

“Everyone can do it you just need to BELIEVE. THANKYOU to all my family and friends for standing by me through the highs and lows.”

In the episode, Collins also opened up about being trolled on social media and experiencing several miscarriages.Viewers praised the star for her bravery and honesty.

Collins continued: “The journey continues….The only way is UP. Everyone has brought me to this moment and I thank you all personally, Well and truly from my HEART.

“From everyone who believed in me in the TV industry but first and foremost…MY WONDERFUL FAMILY because we came from nothing! Hard work, Determination and most of all LOVE, Your my EVERYTHING!! [sic]”

After seeing the reaction to his show, Morgan wrote on social media: “Fascinating to see Twitter change its mind about @missgemcollins during Life Stories – from cruel mindless abuse to grudging admiration and then a lot of praise for her honesty and candour.”
