Glee star Heather Morris has called out what she viewed as an "offensive" tweet about her former co-star Mark Salling.

Salling, who played Puck on the show, was arrested for possession of child pornography in December 2015 and died by suicide in January 2018.

Earlier this week, fellow Glee star Kevin McHale, who portrayed Artie, retweeted a fan post that includes stills from the holiday-themed episode "A Very Glee Christmas". In one of the stills, Salling is covered up with a vomiting emoji.

"This album goes hard tho," McHale wrote in his retweet.

"The vomit face on Mark's face is offensive," commented Morris, who worked alongside Salling for five seasons, playing cheerleader Brittany. Her remark drew varied responses from fans.

One wrote, "I agree Heather, I find that disrespectful too. Despite what happened he is still your cast member and your friend who you lost. As a Glee fan you love all the actors and characters despite what they did in their personal life or else they are not a real Gleek. I don’t like it."

Another responded, "You have children, little children and you are standing up for Mark? A man who was about to go to prison for exploitation of children, and had a ton of evidence of that on this computer and in his home. It’s not like it’s a rumor it was true. Love the character not the Actor."

McHale did not respond to Morris, but he did like one fan response:

"I agree that cancel culture is toxic in most cases, but in this one. there are just some things in life you simply don't do. And I hope anyone that feels like they need to do that gets the help that they need instead/before doing something that will impact lives beyond their own."

Before his death, Salling had pleaded guilty to the charges against him but died before he could be sentenced.

After Salling’s death, Morris, who has also appeared on Dancing With the Stars, posted a quote to Instagram from author Robert M. Drake. "One day you'll make peace with your demons, and the chaos in your heart will settle flat. and maybe for the first time in your life, life will smile right back at you and welcome you home."

Glee aired on FOX for six seasons, from May 2009 to March 2015.
