Good Morning Britain: Ben Shephard fills in for Piers Morgan as talk grows over who will replace presenter
An official replacement for Morgan is yet to be announced
Ben Shephard has replaced Piers Morgan on today’s instalment of Good Morning Britain (15 March).
Last week, Morgan quit the ITV breakfast show after his comments about Meghan Markle – made following her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey – attracted widespread criticism.
Most notably, viewers took issue with Morgan’s claims that he “didn’t believe a word” the Duchess of Sussex said about having suicidal thoughts during her time as a senior royal.
In the wake of Morgan’s departure on Tuesday (9 March), speculation has arisen over who will replace the controversial presenter.
Shephard appeared on the show alongside co-host Susanna Reid this morning (15 March) for the first Monday since Morgan’s exit.

The 46-year-old usually presents the show on Thursdays and Fridays, but stepped in today to co-host this morning’s episode.
Morgan previously presented the show on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Last Wednesday (10 March) – the day after his exit – saw presenter Ranvir Singh serve as co-host with Reid instead.
It is yet to be confirmed whether Shephard’s recent appearance is indicative of a more permanent position, or whether it is a temporary measure until a replacement has been confirmed.

Morgan recently ruled out a return to GMB after a series of online petitions to “bring back Piers” reached over 200,000 signatures.

He is now reportedly at the centre of a £10m bidding war that could see the English presenter return to the US, where his CNN show Piers Morgan Live ran for three years before it was cancelled in 2014.
It is now reported that American media mogul Rupert Murdoch is attempting to secure Morgan. He is also reportedly being targeted by bosses at GB News, a new 24-hour channel aimed at rivalling Sky News and the BBC.
