Golden Globes 2019: Chrissy Metz appears to call Alison Brie a 'b****' in off-mic comment

American actor Chrissy Metz seemingly criticised Alison Brie on the Golden Globes red carpet without realising her microphone was still on, something she has since denied.

The This Is Us star was being interviewed in a Facebook Live post, transmitted on the award ceremony’s social media page, when the blip occurred. After wrapping up her appearance, she was asked by the hosts to help introduce them to Alison Brie who was posing for photographs on the other side of the carpet.

As the camera cut to Brie – who is nominated for her performance in Netflix series GLOW – Metz could be heard saying: “She’s such a bitch."

Writing on Twitter after the incident, Metz said the reports were "fabricated", adding: “I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone."

The 76th Golden Globes ceremony was hosted by Killing Eve star Sandra Oh and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg, whose quips led to a whitewashing apology from Emma Stone.

The evening, designed to award the best in film and television, saw wins for Green Book, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Bohemian Rhapsody, which was the unexpected recipient of the ceremony's biggest award.
