Great British Bake Off 2017: Star baker is Julia, while Flo is sent home
Julia won despite her Showstopper cake featuring an interestingly phallic bread snail

While this week's The Great British Bake Off may have driven fans hysterical with its generous dollop of innuendo, it ended rather sadly, too.
First, the good news: Star Baker was awarded to Julia, despite the fact her Showstopper bread sculpture featured an intriguingly phallic-looking bread snail which left Paul Hollywood only managing to slip out, "I like the snail", before the whole tent collapsed into laughter.
Thankfully, its visual similarity to genitalia didn't put the judges off its taste, and she finally managed to snatch the title away from Steven - a lesson in not getting too confident in oneself.
But wherever a Star Baker may be, someone must also take their leave of the show. To many a fan's distress, it was Flo, the oldest contestant ever to enter the tent.
"I've enjoyed the ride," she told the camera. "I've met some lovely people. I'll remember that for the rest of my life." Unfortunately, Twitter didn't quite reserve the same level of calm.
Bake Off airs every Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
