The Great British Bake Off is coming to Netflix

And just in time for Easter...

Though Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off has been receiving decent ratings and something of a warming welcome, it's hard not to still feel a little nostalgic.

Thankfully, Netflix has stepped in to save the day this Easter weekend, announcing that The Great British Bake Off's first seven series (i.e. its BBC era) will arrive on the streaming platform on Saturday, 31 March.

That means you won't be able to catch up with new hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, alongside new judge Prue Leith, but can revisit those old pals Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins, and Mary Berry.

Bake Off isn't the only BBC show to hit Netflix this Easter weekend either, with all three series of Porridge, the first six series of French and Saunders, and Top Gear series 9-19 all being added on Saturday as well.

Which may be a safe move for the BBC, as the broadcaster admitted that it's struggling to keep younger demographics committed to its platforms.

Its annual plan revealed that 16 to 24-year-olds spend more time watching Netflix than all BBC TV services, including BBC iPlayer. A generational shift which becomes clear when the demographic is widened to 16 to 34-year-olds, in which similar amounts of time are spent watching BBC1, ITV, and Netflix – around two hours a week.
