Following on from an Oscar win for Best Director with The Shape of Water, Guillermo Del Toro will act as show-runner on Netflix’s first anthology horror series.

Titled Guillermo Del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, the series will see the famed filmmaker curate a selection stories, described by Deadline as “equally sophisticated and horrific”.

The writer and director will also helm certain episodes, while also working with a team of top horror writers to bring the selected stories to the screen.

Del Toro has worked with Netflix on multiple occasions, having previously collaborated with the streaming service on Trollhunters – the third and final season of which reaches Netflix on the 25 May.

Trollhunters marks the first instalment in a three-part series, with 3 Below and Wizards following. All three come under the DreamWorks’ Tales of Arcadia banner.

The 53-year-old has directed multiple horror movies before, with almost his entire catalogue of movies showcasing a love for the genre. These include Cronos, The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labrynth, Hellboy, and Blade II.
