Footage from It: Chapter Two debuted at CinemaCon, teasing the return of “The Losers Club”.

The events of the sequel take place 27 years after the first film, with a new cast – including Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy – playing older versions of the kids.

Director Andy Muschietti appeared at the event and introduced both the adult and teenage cast, who were nearly all present at the event.

Those on stage were: Chastain and Sophia Lillis (who both play Beverly Marsh), Bill Hader and Finn Wolfhard (Richie Tozier), Andy Bean and Wyatt Oleff (Stan Uris), James Ransone and Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie Kaspbrak), Isaiah Mustafa and Chosen Jacobs (Mike Hanlon), and Jay Ryan and Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben Hanscom).

The only person not available was McAvoy’s counterpart Jaeden Martell, who plays the younger version of Bill Denbrough. According to Entertainment Weekly, McAvoy joked: “He’s too talented and he threatens me, so I made him disappear.”

The footage shown reportedly focussed on Chastain’s adult Beverly Marsh, who returns to her old home in Derry. She knocks on the door to be greeted by the character Mrs Kersh, who informs her that her father has passed away and invites Beverly inside.

Mrs Kersh asks wheher the home seems the same, to which Beverly replies “Cleaner” as she picks up an old postcard from Ben. As she reminisces, a figure is seen being dragged into a room behind her.

As the two sit down for tea, Beverly gradually realises something’s wrong with the lady and spots that there are flies buzzing around everywhere.

“You know what they say about Derry — no one who dies here ever really dies,” Mrs Kersh says before her face freezes with a demented smile. Beverly then noticed that all the photos of her father have that same smile — a smile last seen on a certain supernatural clown. The elderly woman then strips off and comes for Beverly: “I was always a daddy’s girl. Are you a daddy’s girl, Beverly?”

A montage of footage, featuring the old and new cast, then played, ending with a shot of Pennywise looking at the camera saying “Hello”.

It: Chapter Two debuts in cinemas 6 September.
