Stranger Things 4: The Table Read

Stranger Things star Joe Keery was forced to apologise after hackers shared offensive posts from his Twitter account.

The 27-year-old, who plays Steve Harrington in the Netflix series, was targetted on Sunday night, with his account being hijacked to share a series of racist and insensitive tweets, some of which mentioned his Stranger Things castmates.

These tweets have since been deleted, with Joe taking to social media to apologise for the posts.

“Hey everyone, I was hacked as I’m sure everyone knows,” he wrote.

‘What a bummer that someone would go to such great lengths to spread hate. I want to apologize for the horrible comments that were posted, it was deeply upsetting to me. Much love to you all in these crazy times.”

However, the actor was supported by his fans, with one replying: “Sorry about everything that happened, you didn’t deserve that.”

Another wrote: “Hi Joe I’m so sorry you had to deal with that… what they said was very disturbing but we all know it could have never been you. I hope you stay safe both physically and online!”

The release date for Stranger Things season four release date is not currently known, but with production coming to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans may have to wait until 2021 for the new series.
