Becky Adlington dislocates shoulder on The Jump

This year’s celebrity The Jump may have only just started, but already one of the contestants is in hospital after dislocating their shoulder.

Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington suffered the injury after failing to land a daring jump, crashing awkwardly onto a crash mat.

The incident was broadcast by Channel 4, showing Adlington clutching her shoulder in pain while medics stretchered her away. She said the pain was “worse than childbirth”, the athlete having given birth for the first time in 2015.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told the Evening Standard: “The doctors were happy to discharge Becky, and she may still take part in the show.

“But it is all down to how she and the medics feel about her condition and if her shoulder is strong enough.”

Almost every year contestants are taken to hospital, some of whom are not able to return to the show, and so there are numerous other celebrities lined up ti take their place.

If Adlington does decide not to continue The Wanted singer Tom Parker or Hollyoaks’s Gemma Merna are rumoured to be lined up to replace her.

Louisa Lytton was the first contestant to leave the show, read our run-down of the show here.
