Kardashian family 2020 Christmas bash canceled weeks after island party backlash
'It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe,' Khloé Kardashian wrote on Twitter

Khloé Kardashian has revealed that the Kardashian family's annual Christmas Eve gathering will be canceled this year due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
“The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year,” Khloé Kardashian wrote on Twitter on Sunday (6 December). “It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe."
“Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”
The news comes only weeks after assuring fans that the Christmas bash would still take place, writing on Twitter, "I think it will have to be way smaller obviously. And I’m totally fine with that, but we’re definitely celebrating Christmas! It will just have to be small and safe."
The decision arrived after the larger family unit came under fire multiple times for hosting large gatherings while the pandemic raged on. In October, Kim Kardashian memorably flew her friends and family to a private island for her 40th birthday, seemingly ignoring health experts' recommendations that people avoid nonessential travel.
In the trip's aftermath, Khloé told Ellen DeGeneres, “We did it in the safest way I could imagine someone doing it.”

A few weeks later, Kendall Jenner drew backlash for hosting a large Halloween-themed 25th birthday party.
Khloé said on Twitter on Sunday that her family members are “all so upset” about having to call off the Christmas Eve party, adding, "Covid better be gone by next Christmas."
