Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar has entered into talks with Netflix to produce a TV series based on the video-game series The Legend of Zelda.

Shankar previously Tweeted he was “working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”

The Wrap has since confirmed that the producer hopes to bring the long-running Nintendo series to the streaming service.

Netflix already produces Shankar’s Castlevania, an animated show based on the game of the same name, the second season of which was released on Friday (26 October).

The 33-year-old – who previously acted as executive producer on The Grey, Lone Survivor, and Dredd – has also pitched the media giants a TV movie based on the video-game series Assassin’s Creed.

The Legend of Zelda, which follows the warrior Link as he attempts to save the princess Zelda from the evil Ganon, has been a stalwart on Nintendo consoles since the series launched in 1986 on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). The most recent Zelda game was released on Switch last year and received glowing reviews from critics.
