Line of Duty fans stunned by series 5 episode 1 twist as BBC show returns
*Major spoilers for the new series of Line of Duty below*

The fifth series of BBC show Line of Duty returned last night with a dramatic episode featuring several twists.
Jed Mercurio’s drama wasted no time in establishing the latest case of potential corruption within the police force.
Fans were led to believe that Rochenda Sandall’s mysterious character Lisa was the undercover cop working for a balaclava-wearing gang led by by the show’s main villain, played by Stephen Graham.
However, the episode’s closing moments revealed that Graham’s character was the one to have been planted inside the gang. Has Detective Sergeant John Corbett gone rogue? This will indeed be the question running through this year’s series.
Fans were left reeling by the twist that was closely followed by the death of a main character.
In the premiere, AC-12 copper Maneet Binda (Maya Sondhu) found herself compromised after discovering her cousin had become embroiled in dealings with the balaclava gag.
After attempting to feed them information about AC-12’s findings having been relieved of duty by Ted Hastings (Adrian Dubar), Corbett orders his men to kill her.
Line of Duty continues on BBC1 next Sunday at 9pm – you can read our review of episode one here.
