Love island unveils contestants for it's fifth series

Love Island is about to return for its fifth series, with 12 contestants entering the villa hoping to win £50,000.

The show, which films in Spain, will be presented by returning host Caroline Flack and narrated by commentator Iain Stirling.

Per the show’s rules, contestants must couple up and avoid elimination to be awarded the £50,000 cash prize, which goes to the winning pair. Couples can also be eliminated if they don’t receive enough votes from the public.

Here is everything you need to know before Love Island 2019 begins:

When does series five start?

Love Island will return on Monday, 3 June on ITV2. The broadcast will begin at 9pm and will run until 10:35 pm.

The show could air six nights a week, following the previous series’s format – though it has also operated at a frequency of seven nights a week in the past.

How long will it last for?

The team behind the show has yet to specify this series’s duration, but Love Island has increased in length for a week since 2015.

That year, the programme ran for six weeks, escalating to seven weeks for the next series – and so forth until it reached nine weeks for series four in 2018.

How can I watch Love Island?

In the UK, viewers can watch the TV broadcast on ITV2.

They can also watch it live online on the ITV hub.

Those who are unable to watch the show as it airs can catch up online.

Viewers in the US cannot watch the show on TV or on the ITV hub, but CBS will start airing a US version of the programme on 9 July at 8pm, according to Deadline.

Where is the show filmed?

The Love Island villa is located in the Balearic island of Mallorca, in the Mediterranean.

Its exact location hasn’t been disclosed, but the villa is believed to be in the area of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, on the eastern side of the island.

Who are this year’s contestants?

The 12 Islanders were revealed on Monday by ITV2.

This year’s cast is made up of five women and seven men.
