Love Island set for a shock as Jack's former girlfriend reportedly set to join show
'For the past few weeks there have been lots of discussions whose exes would make good TV and who would make the most impact'
Love Island could be in for a major shake-up in the next few weeks.
Jack and Dani's harmonious romance could be facing its biggest obstacle yet, as The Daily Star claims Jack's former girlfriend is being set up to enter the villa.
22-year-old Keeley MacGuire reportedly quit her office job on Thursday and is preparing to fly to Majorca, where the show is filmed; she is thought to be making her first appearance in the next few coming days.
A Love Island spokesperson has confirmed Ms MacGuire unsuccessfully applied for this year's show, but added: “Any names are at this point pure speculation.”
Jack and Dani have swiftly become the favourite couple on the show for many viewers, developing a close bond which has remained steady within all the non-stop drama.
Insiders at The Sun have added that Ms MacGuire may not be the only former flame set to enter the villa in the coming weeks.
As a TV insider explained: “Bosses know everything about the stars that are on the show and they’re open about their relationship history. There have been messy break-ups and some of the exes have got axes to grind, so sometimes they get in touch with bosses."
“For the past few weeks there have been lots of discussions whose exes would make good TV and who would make the most impact. They are being lined up and talked up.”
A second source added: “Nothing has been decided but it is something that has been on the table for a while and could happen later in this series. It’s happened before on the show so there’s nothing to say it wouldn’t happen again.”
The arrival of some of the contestant's exes could even potentially involve some famous faces: Laura Anderson’s ex-boyfriend is 90s boy band member Dane Bowers.
