The winter series of Love Island has been given a release date, with the show returning on 12 January 2020.

Another group of hopeful singles will land on an island in Cape Town in the hope of meeting their true love, all the while watched by millions of TV viewers.

The news comes after host Caroline Flack announced she was quitting the series, following an assault charge over an alleged incident involving her boyfriend.

Flack was arrested and charged with “assault by beating” on 12 December after the altercation with Lewis Burton at their shared Islington home.

The presenter said in a statement: “Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order not to detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six.

“I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town.”

Fans are now wondering who will replace Flack on the show, with suggestions including Maya Jama and former winner Dani Dyer.
