Despite some people dismissing Daredevil and Jessica Jones as ‘superhero shows’, the two shows are some of Netflix’s finest original content.

From everything we’ve seen, Luke Cage looks set to be one of the streaming services best to date, once again surpassing what is typical of a comic book adaptation.

One of the many intriguing aspects of the Marvel show is the music; each episode is named after different Gang Starr songs, including “Moment of Truth” and “Code of the Streets”, while a poster of The Notorious B.I.G. features heavily in the already available trailers.

In a clip shared exclusively by The Independent, Adrian Younge of A Tribe Called Quest, A$AP Ferg, and Method Man discuss the importance of hip-hop on Luke Cage’s soundtrack.

“Brothers like me been waiting for this since I was eight years old, and now it’s here I’m ecstatic,” says Method Man in the commentary featurette.

Luke Cage will join the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones in The Defenders, an Avengers-style team-up that will also feature Iron Fist. Luke Cage will be streaming globally on Netflix from 30 September.
