The story at the heart of ten-part Netflix series Making a Murderer took a shocking turn of events yesterday (12 August) when Brendan Dassey's life sentence was unexpectedly overturned.
However, the series' filmmakers - who are currently prepping a follow-up - were not present for the game-changing moment. Instead, they are reportedly looking to recreate the scene.
The Milwaukee-based federal judge who has deemed Dassey's previous conviction as wrongful failed to alert both his family and Netflix to the updated ruling.

Dassey was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005. The 26-year-old could leave jail in 90 days if prosecutors decide not to appeal the ruling.
His uncle Steven Avery, who was also tried and convicted for Halbach's murder, is said to be 'thrilled' to hear of the decision.
According to Netflix's Ted Sarandos, Making a Murderer's second season will feature a ton of new information that has found its way to executive producers Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi since the first season debuted on the streaming service in December 2015.
