Suits creator reveals why Meghan Markle wasn’t asked to make cameo in final season
Aaron Korsh said he didn’t want to put former actor ‘in that position’
Suits creator Aaron Korsh has revealed he decided not to ask Meghan Markle to return for a cameo in the show’s final season out of “respect” for “her new life”.
Markle played paralegal Rachel Zane in the drama, which has just aired its ninth and final series.
Following her engagement to Prince Harry in November 2017, the former actor announced she would be leaving the show. She starred in her final Suits episode in 2018.
Speaking about whether Markle was approached for a cameo in Suits, Korsh said: “I thought about asking, and I thought about even using audio footage that we have to come up with something, and in the end I didn’t ask.”
He told Deadline: “I just thought, I’m going to respect her new life and not put her in the position of having to ask. We decided not to put her in that position, so I never asked.”
Markle’s Suits storyline ended with her character Rachel marrying Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) and subsequently leaving for Seattle.
Suits has a spin-off series, Pearson, which follows Gina Torres’s eponymous lawyer as she enters the dirty world of Chicago politics.
